May 1 to May 4, 2005

Planetarium Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany

Organizers: NASA & STEREO Consortium, Planetarium Hamburg,

University of Göttingen/Astrophysical Institute, MPI for Solar System Research (MPS)

Dear Colleagues,

this is to inform you about the upcoming STEREO Science Working Group Meeting for the NASA STEREO Mission which will take place at the Planetarium Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany from May 1 to May 4, 2005.

The Planetarium Hamburg is currently the most modern planetarium in the world. It has special equipment for 3-D visualization. This group immersing environment can take up to 253 people right into the inner workings of the cosmos. In 2004, the planetarium has attracted more than 360.000 visitors. It is beautifully located in a historic “water-tower” within a park. We believe that the Planetarium Hamburg is an ideal place to discuss and present the latest scientific status and visualization, education and public relations plans for the mission.

We are currently working on the details of the agenda, taking into account the most important issues for the mission. Suggestions for special splinter, instrument team or coordination meetings, are very welcome. Special facilities to meet, including the availability of refreshments and WLAN facilities will be arranged. The meeting dates are intended to follow the EGU conference in Vienna to allow participants to combine their travel plans to Europe for both meetings. We assume that most people will arrive on Sunday, May 1, and will participate in the ice-breaker event. Pre-registration is recommended. Travel from the airport to the planetarium will take about 15 min. by taxi. We have reserved hotel rooms at the Queens Hotel Hamburg, which is in walking distance to the Planetarium. The special rates for the hotel rooms will be 78 Euro for a single room and 105 Euro for a double. Reservations at the special rates can be made directly at the hotel (phone: +49 (0) 40-632-940; fax: +49 (0) 40-632-2472; e-mail: info.qhamburg@queensgruppe.de) - To ensure to get the meeting rates, please make your reservation preferentially by e-mail or telefax since the online registration process via the hotel website does not include per se the possibility to specify the purpose of your stay!

The current deadline for registration is 31st of March 2005. If you have any specific question, please send an e-mail to:
